Scottish Couple Welcome Ultra-Rare, Naturally Conceived Quadruplets
Arlene and John Mitchell from Longridge, West Lothian, have defied staggering 1 in 700,000 odds by welcoming four naturally conceived boys: Ben, Noah, Harrison, and Rory!

The tiny miracles arrived via planned C-section at 30 weeks on May 14 at Edinburgh’s Royal Infirmary, each weighing just under 3 lb.
Already proud parents to Lauren (11) and Hunter (3), the couple was stunned at their first scan. “The nurse said more than one… then more than three. I was speechless,” Arlene, 34, shared. John, 38, added: “Life’s about to get louder—but we’re thrilled to be a big family!”
A 17-person medical team supported the high-risk delivery. The boys received initial breathing help and tube feeds in the NICU before moving closer to home.

This marked Lothian’s first-ever quadruplet birth. “An unforgettable day,” said NHS Lothian’s Associate Director of Midwifery.
The brothers are now thriving and nearly ready to join their excited family. “It’s overwhelming in the best way—noisier, but we can’t wait!” Arlene said.
