It Was Thanksgiving… and He Had No One.

It Was Thanksgiving… and He Had No One.
The hospital halls were unusually quiet.
No laughter. No visitors. Just the soft hum of machines.
In Room 302, an elderly man sat alone with a tray of tasteless hospital food.
No family. No calls. No one coming.

Nurse Ben didn’t go to the breakroom.
He warmed up his own leftovers… then walked into that room and sat cross-legged on the floor beside the bed.
“Mind if I join you?” he asked.
They ate together—slowly—watching football like it was any normal holiday.
Two plates. Two people. One moment that mattered more than medicine.
Later the man whispered:

“I wasn’t hungry for food… I was hungry for company.”
Because care isn’t only injections and charts.
Sometimes… it’s simply showing up so someone doesn’t feel forgotten.
