A Story the World Must Never Forget

A Story the World Must Never Forget
In 1986, in the small village of Kuhpayeh, 35-year-old Soraya Manutchehri was falsely accused of adultery — a lie crafted by her own husband, who wanted to marry a 14-year-old girl and avoid returning Soraya’s dowry. With the support of corrupt local authorities, she was unjustly condemned and brutally stoned to death.

This tragedy was later revealed to the world by journalist Freidoune Sahebjam in The Stoning of Soraya M., a book that exposed not only personal betrayal but institutional cruelty.
Soraya’s story is more than a crime of one man — it is a chilling reminder of how power, corruption, and silence can destroy innocent lives. When justice is absent, fear rules. And when truth is suppressed, suffering multiplies.

Her name endures as a symbol of courage, memory, and the urgent need for human dignity.
