A Nation in Tears: Iran Mourns the Loss of Its Supreme Leader
Tens of thousands filled the streets in silence and sorrow as Iran mourned the death of Ali Khamenei, killed in joint U.S.–Israeli strikes on February 28.

State media reported that his daughter, son-in-law, and granddaughter also lost their lives — a tragedy that deepened the nation’s grief.
For more than three decades, since 1989, he stood at the helm of the Islamic Republic. Now, black banners hang across cities as Iran begins 40 days of national mourning and observes a seven-day official holiday.

In mosques, in homes, in crowded squares — prayers rise, tears fall, and a country reflects on the end of an era.
