Iran & USA: Explosions, Retaliation & a World on Edge
A massive joint military assault by the United States and Israel struck Iran on 28 Feb 2026, unleashing heavy air and missile attacks on Tehran and other major cities in what leaders described as a pre-emptive operation against perceived threats.

The strikes targeted Iran’s military, nuclear infrastructure and leadership sites, and Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was later confirmed killed amid subsequent chaos and mourning.
In fierce retaliation, Iran launched missiles and drones at U.S. bases and allied positions across the Gulf, prompting emergency alerts in the UAE, Bahrain, Kuwait and beyond as civilian life was disrupted and tensions skyrocketed.

Many countries condemned the escalation while others called urgently for diplomacy and restraint to prevent a wider Middle East war.
