Scars of Courage: Marla Hanson’s Fight for Justice
On June 5, 1986, 24-year-old model Marla Hanson met her landlord to collect money owed. Instead, she was ambushed. Two hired men held her down and slashed her face, leaving over 150 stitches and permanent scars. Her modeling career ended that night.

But the cruelty didn’t stop in the street. In court, she faced humiliation and harsh attacks on her character. Still, she refused to be broken.

Marla turned pain into purpose — becoming an advocate and helping other victims heal. Her scars became symbols of resilience, not defeat.
