Heartbreaking Story of a Mother’s Loss: A Daughter Stillborn at 39 Weeks

Gabriella Morley’s world was turned upside down just days before her due date. At 39 weeks pregnant, she and partner Matthew Dalton were eagerly awaiting their first child. But a rare pregnancy condition, intrahepatic cholestasis of pregnancy (ICP), silently poisoned her body, unknowingly taking her daughter’s life.

What started as an ordinary day, shopping with her partner, turned into heartbreak when Gabriella noticed her baby hadn’t moved all day. The next morning, the devastating news arrived — no heartbeat. Their little girl, Poppy, was stillborn.

Gabriella’s grief was unimaginable, but she wanted to honor Poppy’s memory. Despite the pain, she shared intimate photos of Poppy, hoping to raise awareness about ICP, and to encourage others to speak about the children they’ve lost. “I’m proud of her,” Gabriella says. “Even though she’s not here, she’s still my beautiful little girl.”

We’ll never forget Poppy.
