Outrage is sweeping across Mexico after 28-year-old Irma López Aurelio, an indigenous Mazatec woman, was forced to give birth on the grass outside a clinic in Oaxaca—after allegedly being denied care.

In active labor, fully dilated and desperate for help, she and her husband waited for hours, understanding only one word in Spanish: “no.”

Left alone, she delivered her baby without medical support.
