In August 2011…

In August 2011, a heartbreaking tragedy struck along a remote riverbank in Eastern Siberia.
19-year-old Olga Moskalyova and her stepfather Igor Tsyganenkov were walking when a mother brown bear fiercely protecting her cubs attacked. Igor was killed first. Olga, injured and terrified, fled briefly but the bear returned.

In her final moments, Olga called her mother Tatiana, her voice trembling with fear and pain — desperately sharing what was happening, clinging to the one person she trusted as danger closed in. Tatiana heard the panic and struggle from hundreds of kilometers away, powerless to help.
Rescuers arrived too late; both were gone. Authorities later tracked the bears to prevent more attacks.

Olga’s story endures not just as a wilderness horror, but as a raw testament to a daughter’s unbreakable bond with her mother — reaching for love until the very end. A stark reminder of life’s fragility and the depth of human connection in the face of terror.
