20-Year-Old Gives Birth at Home Hours After Being Told She Was Only Six Weeks Pregnant
In the UK, Erin Summersgill, 20, delivered her baby girl Piper at home on August 10—just hours after hospital staff told her she was only 6–8 weeks pregnant.

She visited Queen Elizabeth Hospital the day before: tests done, but no scan. Reassured “everything’s fine,” she went home. The next morning, intense pain hit. She called 999.
Paramedics arrived fast, but labor was too advanced. “I thought it was constipation,” Erin said. Halfway down the stairs, she felt the baby’s head!
Little Piper arrived safely at 6 lb 7 oz. Erin was rushed back to hospital for heavy bleeding and needed a transfusion.

Remarkably, she had no bump, no typical symptoms, and regular periods—even through COVID-19 and her first vaccine. Just 15 months earlier, she gave birth to son Karson in the same ward.
Both mom and baby are healthy now. “It was the shock of my life,” Erin shared, “but we’re so grateful she arrived safely.”
