Canadian Twins Born at 22 Weeks Set New Survival Record
Toronto, Canada — In a groundbreaking medical achievement, Adiah Laelynn and Adrial Luka Nadarajah have been certified by Guinness World Records as the most premature twins ever to survive .

Born on March 4, 2022, at exactly 22 weeks gestation — 126 days early — they arrived weighing just 330g (Adiah) and 420g (Adrial), the lightest twins in history. Doctors gave 0% chance of survival if born even slightly earlier.
Their mother, Shakina Rajendram, was rushed to Mount Sinai Hospital’s advanced NICU. The twins battled sepsis, brain bleeds, and more, but after ~5 months of heroic care, they went home tube-free — a true miracle!
“It was the hardest and most beautiful fight of our lives,” Shakina said. “Every day they amazed us.”
Now thriving toddlers, Adiah is smiley and social, while Adrial continues to progress strongly. They surpassed the previous record (125 days early, 2018).
